I never availed myself of his services but I do have a Webra 91 that he supposedly modified. It has/had a pressure tap in the left mounting lug, (to run a Perry pump), if the ports are modified, it's not enough to be visible.

Well, I had a serious cave in this AM, I ordered a Robin Hood 80 from Old School Model Works, I've wanted one for a long time. i am thinking it will wear a Saito 82-B. It can take up to a 1.50, but I sure can't see that.

My Senior Telemaster has a similar AUW, it flies nicely with an FG21. The FG21 power output lands somewhere between an FA100 and FA115.

My Saito 125-B wins with the CH Ignition, shown below turning a MA 16 x 6 Classic at 9,025 rpm.

Smoke from 3 clicks rich at end of break in.

that plane has a good, classy look. the first thing I thought when I saw it was the fuse should be covered so it looks like the old Woodies wagons.

I had one of the original Robin Hood 25s, sold by World engines back around 1982. Powered it with a Super Tigre G20 .23. Covered two tone with Monokote burgundy and cream. A very nice plane and as I recall it built up quick. The kit was around twenty bucks. I wouldn't mind building another. Woody wagon covering ? Why not?

That CDI ignited FA-125B should be very similar to the methanol fueled FG-20s, another fine choice.

It is somewhat based on the Curtiss Robin which was powered by either a straight six or a radial. W8YE had one, (from World Engines), that was designed around a Maloney 100.

The larger Robin Hood came quite a bit later than the 25 version. The original was a popular plane. Mahoney likely figured a big one would sell well and at the same time, help sell a few of those Mahoney engines!

The real Curtiss Robin Hood set some impressive flight duration records in it's time.

Should actually fly very well "on the wing".

I had three Maloney 125's at one time. they did exactly as he claimed turning a 15 x 8 at 7,200 rpm, my Davis Diesel converted one would turn a 15 x 8 three blade at exactly the same 7,200 rpm.

Gathering "stuff" for the Robin Hood 80, I ordered these 5.6" wheels. It call for 5" wheels but I like these.

My experience with the 120r3 was that it was just a little stronger than an 82. I have been trying to find a scale airframe to hang that engine on but so far I have not found anything. Is anyone out there flying something they are happy with on the 120r3?

Just looking at the Robin hood 80, if it were built cheekless, appears to have a very short nose moment. Might not require tail weight, or not much, to balance with the 120R3?

How about a Piper Cub J3P? It used a 3 cylinder radial and there are a ton of kits out there which you could adapt.
I have an FA 90R3 on a Flair Puppeteer. Great sound and scale power levels.

Yes, you can strip and shorten the nose on most any plane. Gain weight and lose space is a part of the trade-off.
