Airworld F5E rennovation

Oh, very sorry, something must have gone wrong. I saw it in preview but not after posting. I often have issues with rcu on my phone so i did not mind looking.
anyway here again:
I recently got my hand on aborted rennovation project, an Airworld F5E. I decided to invest some time, and give the dull grey hull a newclife as swiss air force j-3038, the anniversary swan.
I will rework the worn landing gear, replace stressed formers, make new control links, and upgrade elevator servos. Also considering a scale cockpit.
some work has been done, and the first paint steps have been taken over the past days.
Any interest on further reporting?

Thanks
Ive sealed the markings in clearkote, and dug out the wings. Previous owner did a piss poor job applying the tailormade decals, they are all bubbly. Also he attempted to draw the step boundary markings with edding semipermanent marker.....will be trying to gently wash it off with clensing alcohol today

I am in. Got the 2 seaters version, still unpainted. Will you take the airwlord cabin kit ? I am droolong over theses, obvioulsy need 2 of them & am concerned with the weight. I just bought two Jetcat 130 and I'm thinking about going twin with these in the F-5 instead of the old P-160. Pls keep us informed what you are doing. This is a magnificient kit. Congrats on the twin seater.
im going to do my own cpckpit, so no not going for airworlds stuff. Not very nice IMHO. Also want to opt for a canppy mechanism.
I wouldnt go with the 130s, is opt for some of the lighter smaller 85-90 like xicoy or such.....and mount them directly in the nozzles without thrust tube.

Your Airworld F5 is looking fantastic!
I would be interested to see what further progress has been made since your last post.
I’m also considering a remote opening canopy for my F5. I have seen YouTube footage, but I would be interested to know if you (or anyone else) may have a schematic drawing of the canopy mechanism.
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Hi Mylo,
Sadly no progress at all, i am very busy preparing for JetPower and the entire rennovation has come to a more or less total seize. I hope to get on it again soon.....
The canopy mechanism is also on my to do list. What size is your F5? From what Kit?
Cheers
Hank

Hi Miniflyer (Hank),
Hopefully, it won't be too long before you get back on to building your F5.
I have a 1:5 scale F5 manufactured by Ace Composites. Interestingly, the manner in which it assembles is very similar to your Airworld F5.
I've made a number of modifications, the most significant being making it fully ducted and the installation of a bifurcated pipe. It was originally painted in the Patrouille Suisse Scheme, however I've stripped off all the paint (back to primer) so that I am able to add more scale details. I've yet to decide on a paint scheme.
I'm still a long way from completing the model.
Regards,
George

Hank maybe you know it already but Print Scale does ejection seats for the Airworld F-5 with fabric cushion. They look nice I just discovered it by browsing his jet section. Also I got word from Airworld about the twin seats cockpit they are more than 700€ which I think is kind of ridiculous price especially that they have a very "toy" look.
I will probably do a balsa/ply "bath tube" for either seats, attached to each side of the fuselage or special formers if needed, then start from here with setting up the seats, instrument panels with gasket and side panels.
Hopefully I hope to bring Scalecockpit.at to the party. He does magnificient work with instrument panles for a broad variety of models but unfortunately not for any F-5
I am currently browsing the plastic scale models forum as there are quite many resources out there for details work, including the instrument panel and side panels.
You had a stand at JP ? Maybe we met there ? Greetings

I am actually working on a museum scale 1/5 F5, fully constructed from factory blueprints and cross referenced to Swiss Air Force J-3098 during its time as special loan to the Air Force museum.
I have all documentation, pictures and measurements to recreate absolutely everything accurate to the notch. The airworld rennovation is basically serving as a testbed for parts while the real F5 will evolve in the background.
And yes i was at JP 😎.

Any documentation you can share on the F5E? Loft lines and the like would be of interest, also structural repair manuals.

Sorry, but since it is an active fighter of the armed forces i am tied to non disclosure and confidentiality contracts to get access to documentation. It is very direct in what i may and may not do....unfortunately sharing them is in the big list of dont's.
I may however create replica parts and artwork, so if you have a specific request let me know and we can see what we work out.
Not intending to mix business and hobby, so lets get back to the airworld F5 🙈

Hi baron-noir,
Pavol of scale-cockpit.at sells the twin seat and single seat F5 Tiger cockpit in 1:5 scale, but I don't believe he makes the scale ejection seat.
Is it the ejection seat that you will be asking Pavol to make?
Cheers,
Mylo
