I use the accelerometers mainly for telemetry...

I use the accelerometers mainly for telemetry read outs ie. I can roll the tx up slightly while flying and get a fuel level read out. Twist it slightly and get the timer or airspeed read out.

Yes, it seems that the only way to reset the alarm is a power cycle of the Tx unless I'm missing something. The set up appears to be quite simple though.

Ok, I received the Jeti update cable and updating the receivers was quick and painless. Although the PB update cable "looks" the same, it wouldn't work for me.
