I think the issue with the clearance was one I brought up a while ago. The problem was solved with shims between the gear and the mounts. I kinda jumped the gun and worried too soon.

I haven't decided on a muffler yet.

I measured 1 1/8 in clearance between my engine and cowl. That is the dimension on the troy built muffler. So it should fit.

I was waiting to see how...

The hole is just in the plywood mount. I have at least 1 1/4in. clearance around the carb.

I have the bolts going all the way through the firewall now. Haven't decided if I will leave it that way or not.
I'm open to other suggestions on that.

Yes 8 1/8 from the firewall. Adjust the dimension with layers of ply.

I have a Dave Brown 5" spinner on a DL-50. I was going to use one of these 4" long screws:

I like the idea for laying up the doors. How did you rig them to open and close?
The plan view will help with panel lines too.

I noticed a while back you posted a pic with the stock muffler mounted on your DL 50.
It looks like it will stick out of the cowl quite a bit.

Hey Michel

To keep the hinges in line along the trailing edge either use a long straight edge or a string line would work too.

As far as keeping them perpendicular I was thinking about...

Finally got the air tank and lines. Time to continue on the wing.

I like the idea of using a credit card under the sanding block, that will make it a lot easier to sand the tips.
